Antique 18ct Gold Chalcedony Teardrop Pendant with Amethyst Inlaid Cross c 1840
A beautiful early Victorian, possibly Georgian,18 carat gold framed teardrop or pear shaped Chalcedony pendant. This lovely antique pendant has an applied or surmounted cross in gold that tests higher than 18ct, probably 22ct. This has been inset with six equally sized baguette shaped domed amethysts.
The pendant is unmarked but the frame tests as 18ct with the later attached ring for a chain, 9ct. The pendant is 1 1/4 inches long, including the ring and a maximum of 1/2 inch wide and weighs 1.9 grammes. It is in excellent condition and ready to wear. The cross is fixed to the chalcedony with tiny pins and it is slightly to the right of centre. Some collectors may refer to this as a crucifix.
The pendant dates from circa 1840 to 1850 but is possibly a little earlier than this as it has Georgian influences.
A really beautiful piece for adding to a chain or ribbon. Complimentary domestic and international postage for this item.
