Antique 18thC Dutch Delft Tile Blue and White Two Men Dog on Quayside - hand painted tin glazed earthenware with blue & white decoration 13 cm square
A late 18th century Dutch Delft tile made from tin glazed earthenware with blue and white decoration. It has a hand painted scene of two men and a dog stood under a tree in the foreground. One man appears to be showing the other what is possibly a plate. In the background a sailing boat with tree men onboard, it has just cast off from the quayside, following three other sailing boats out to sea. In the background is a low island with houses, a church, castle towers, all amongst trees. The scene is painted across the whole of the tile, it is completely border-less.
In good antique condition with a chip to each bottom corner, no cracks nor restoration, there is some glaze crazing. It has been previously bonded to a wall. Please see the images.
This is a great antique delft tile to add to any collection or for installation. The last image shows this tile with some others offered for sale separately.
