Antique Art Nouveau Barbotine Majolica Planter Jardiniere Jean-Marie Pointu 1880
A very decorative antique art nouveau french barbotine majolica planter or jardiniere by a renowned maker, Jean-Marie Pointu.
The 7 inch high planter has the impressed "P" mark of Pointu on the base and dates from around 1880.
The planter has high or gros relief applied pink and red poppies and leaves on a mottled and graduated black/grey background. Pointu is a highly collected maker of this type of ware, and although there is some damage to the edges of the petals and leaves etc this is still a very decorative and sought after item for any collector.
It has a base diameter of 5 3/4 inches is 7 inches at the rim. It weighs 2214g unpacked.
Please take a look at my Pointu barbotine vase also listed for sale, from the same collection.
