Antique Art Nouveau Brass Lidded Jug Embossed Honeysuckle Joseph Sankey JS & S
A very decorative and collectable antique art nouveau brass lidded jug, possibly for hot water. This attractive jug stands 5 3/4 inches high and has a hinged lid with a domed, shell like centre. The main body of the jug has an embossed organic, art nouveau pattern which is known as Honeysuckle. It dates to around 1900.
The jug is stamped on the base J.S & S for Joseph Sankey and Sons of Bilston, Staffordshire. Underneath this is the mark Solid Brass. It has a tinned interior and and a seven-shaped handle.
It weighs 220g and is in good, polished condition with just a small dent or crease near the foot rim and some wear to the crispness of the embossed design commensurate with age and wear. This is a very decorative piece to add to any collection of art nouveau or arts and crafts metalware.
