Bohemian Cranberry Glass Claret Jug Decanter Hand Painted Enamels Antique 1880

A very decorative and useable antique Bohemian cranberry glass claret jug or decanter dating from c 1880.

This lovely decanter stands just under 25 cm high and has a base diameter of 8.3 cm. It has been hand blown and has a rough pontil to the base, which also has the amount of wear you would expect to see with an antique piece of glassware for the table.

The decanter has a slightly ribbed cylindrical body and a crimped neck with a plain clear glass handle and its original clear lamp work stopper. The stopper is a good close fit.

The hand painted decoration comprises white enamel motifs - plumes, swirls, dots and darts with gilded highlights - the gilding has mostly worn away.
