Aesthetic Movement antique brass hinged lidded Box for Stationery Passports or Notelets B7 size embossed floral decoration circa 1900

A decorative embossed brass hinged lidded box decorated in a floral pattern in the Aesthetic Movement style circa 1900. This period relates to the reign of Queen Victoria in the late 19th century to early 20th century.

This is a good quality box made from relatively heavy gauge plate. The base is stamped with a capital letter E so this may possibly be Erhard and Sohne.

The box measures externally 3 15/16 inches wide ( 10 cm) at the base, 2 inches ( 5 cm) deep and 5 3/8 inches ( 13.7 cm) overall height. The internal size is suitable for a B7 size document or notelet at 88mm × 125 mm or 3.5 inches × 4.9 inches this size also equates to a standard passport size. It weighs 439 grammes unpacked.

This lovely box is in good antique condition with the usual minor marks and signs of use. Please see the images. 

It would make a great addition to any desk, side table, mantelpiece, side table or bedroom cabinet. A useful and decorative item.
