Antique Chinese Porcelain B and W Tea Bowl and Saucer Qianlong 乾隆 Qing 1760
An antique Chinese export porcelain scalloped rim tea bowl and saucer hand painted in under glaze cobalt blue and white. This unusual moulded design: a scalloped edge bell shape tea bowl or cup has an everted rim that is shaped in an earlier Kangxi 康熙 style.
The centre of the saucer is decorated with a scene of peonies, rocks, a pine tree and two flying birds of happiness. There is a deep rim border of lappets filled with pomegranate seed and floral motifs. The pattern in the centre of the saucer is similarly painted on the outside of the bowl. The underside of the rim of the bowl also has the lappet border pattern, the inside of the rim is painted with a band with pomegranate seeds or cell dots and the centre of the bowl a stylised flower.
They date to the mid eighteenth century, circa 1760, during the reign of the Emperor Qianlong 乾隆 (1736-95) in the Qing dynasty 清代.
The tea bowl is 3 1/2 inches (9 cm) diameter and 1 7/8 inches (4.8 cm) high. The saucer is is 5 7/16 inches (13.8 cm) diameter and 7/8 inches (2.2 cm) high. They weigh a total of 165 grammes unpacked.
They are good antique condition, with a feint crack to the centre of the saucer, two firing tears to the underside of the rim. The tea bowl has three tiny chips or nicks to the rim.
This beautiful antique tea bowl and saucer displays well. They are a very attractive set to add to a collection of antique hand painted Chinese 18th century porcelain.
We have two of these available, each listed separately but shown as a pair in one of the images. They have each been painted by different hands. This one is a slighlty darker blue than the other.
