Antique Edwardian 9ct Rose Gold and Seed Pearls Swallow Bar Brooch c 1900
Beautiful antique late Victorian / Edwardian bar brooch with a sentimental, romantic theme of a Swallow bird and twining flowers or berries and leaves. This type of brooch was very popular c 1890 - 1900 and often given as a gift to a sweetheart.
The brooch is made of 9ct rose gold and is stamped 9ct on the back of one of the little clusters of berries or flowerheads. The brooch has two collet set seed or split pearls at either end of the bar and there are 20 other split pearls decorating the brooch - all intact.
The brooch is 4.2 cm or 1 3/4 inches long and weighs 2.6g. The long pin fastens securely to a c-catch. It is in very good condition and ready to wear. There is a little solder visible at the c catch end of the pin which is possibly an old repair or as made but, this is not visible when worn and the repair is very secure.
A lovely item of antique jewellery that would make a perfect Valentine's or birthday gift for a loved one or a treat for yourself.
