Antique Edwardian to 1920s Silver and Carnelian Dropper Earrings on French Hooks

A great-looking pair of silver and carnelian agate dropper earrings dating from circa 1905 - 1920s the Edwardian to early Art Deco period.

The earrings were originally on sterling silver screw fasteners for unpierced ears but I have changed them for new, antique style French hooks, made of silver and stamped as such. If preferred, they could easily be put back onto this fastening, as shown in the last image.

The earrings each have two oval shaped cabochons in ascending size, mounted in silver. They have an overall drop of 1 1/2 inches on the wires. Carnelian was a favourite of the period and often features, alongside amber and other varieties of agate, in jewellery of the time. The stones are a lovely reddish brown colour and the earrings are in very good condition, ready to wear.
