Antique Emry Davis Automatic Inkstand in a Bevelled Glass Inkwell decorated with engraved floliate wreath and the Initials H.G. New York US patent circa 1907

This antique Emry Davis inkstand is a true gem for collectors of antique and vintage writing equipment. Made of a 3 3/8 inch (8.6 cm) square bevelled clear glass block with a central cylindrical inkwell and early plastic or Bakelite type material automatic inkstand.

The central automatic inkstand consists of an loosely spherical outer shell that has been truncated with a cut out slot for access. It also features a central float and feeder from a tube at the bottom of the well. When raised up it creates a vacuum in the well section, when pushed down again the ink is pumped up the tube and into the conical well of the float, ready to be used to charge the ink for your pen. This automatic feeder works well and is complete, so often they are seen with parts missing or not working.

The clear glass block stands 2 3/4 inches (7 cm) high, and with the ink feeder, it is 4 1/16 (10.3 cm) high. It weighs 1064 grams unpacked.  The brown plastic or bakelite type boss fitted into glass body is embossed with the following: The Davis Automatic Inkstand Pat June 5 99, September 30 02, April 11 05,  and the latest patent dated 16 April 1907, New York. This inkstand is a piece of history from the United States of America.

The front of the square glass block is engraved with a decorative foliate scroll, with the initials H.G. in the middle, which adds a personal touch to the item and makes it a unique addition to any collection. The automatic mechanism of the inkstand is a fascinating feature that will surely impress. This item is perfect for those who appreciate the ingenuity of antique writing equipment and want to add a rare and valuable piece to their collection. Don't miss the opportunity to own this antique treasure.
