French Art Nouveau Repousse Pewter Box Alice Eugene Louis Chanal Antique c 1910
A beautiful, very stylish and tactile Art Nouveau or La Belle Époque French pewter lidded box made in high relief repousse, hammered and chased work with a stylised five pointed flower to the lid and stylised leaves to the base. The underside of the base is marked A. E. Chanal Déposé, dating from circa 1902 - 1920. The style may be described as Art Nouveau, Jugendstil, Arts and Crafts, Modernismo catalán, Stile Liberty or Secessionist
Alice Chanal ( 1872-1951 ) and Eugène Louis Chanal ( 1872 - 1925 ) were both born in Brussels, but established themselves in Paris in 1902.
It is in very good antique condition with a nice patina, there are some minor marks commensurate with age and use.
