Antique Irish Silver Claddagh Brooch Pin Regd Design Number 431923 Possibly Dublin 1934
Antique Irish Silver Claddagh Brooch Pin Regd Design Number 431923 Possibly Dublin 1934
A very attractive and wearable antique Irish silver claddagh brooch or pin. The brooch has the traditional Claddagh design featuring the hands either side of a crowned heart. Each of the three symbolic elements has its own meaning: The heart represents love; the crown, loyalty and the hands, friendship.
The oval or buckle shaped brooch is approx 2.7 cm wide and is marked on the back with the maker's monogram, T U & S. There is a registered number, 431923 and a faint hallmark which appears to be for Dublin with the year letter S in a four leafed clover shaped stamp for 1934.
The pin fasten securely to a c-shaped catch and there is a little loop at the bottom of the brooch to which a safety chain could be added. It weighs 1.9g and is in good condition - ready to wear. A very nice item of Celtic jewellery that would make a lovely gift or a treat for yourself.
Please see my other vintage and antique jewellery also listed for sale including more silver brooches.
