Antique Ironstone Plate Painted Bird Rock & Fence Imari Fan Moulded Border c1820
Antique Ironstone Plate Hand Painted Bird Rock & Fence Imari Pattern Fan Moulded Border circa 1820
Here we have a very attractive and collectable antique ironstone plate dating from around 1820 and hand painted in the imari palette. The plate has moulded fan shaped detail at four points around the scalloped edge - an unusual feature.
It has been beautifully decorated with an intricate and colourful pattern that includes an exotic bird, peony flowers, rocks and a fence. The back is marked with the painted pattern number 104.
We currently do not know the maker as it is only marked with pattern number and the impressed mark "ironstone china".A number of other manufacturers made ironstone such as Turner, Spode, Davenport, Hicks & Meigh, Stephen Folch and Ridgway. However, it is Masons style and a lovely quality item.
It measures 9 inches in diameter and weighs 444g. It is in good condition with just minor scratching and paint flaking.
This is a great item to add to any collection of Mason's or early English ironstone china.
