Antique Ironstone Tazza or Comport Pugin Gothic Revival Style Ornate Base c 1865

A c 1865 Puginesque Gothic Revival style comport, tazza or centrepiece made of ironstone and with an ornate gilded stem or base. This very attractive item of ironstone is unmarked apart from an impressed Gothic type letter B - possibly for Brownfields.

It has a geometric transfer printed and gilded pattern in the centre and around the edge of the plate. The stem is moulded with shaped panels and highlighted with gilding. The foot also has the transfer printed patterned border to echo the design above it. 

The comport stands 5 inches high and the plate has a diameter of 9 1/2 inches. It weighs 991g and is in good condition with just a little rubbing to the gilding. A very nice item for display and use.
