John Rose Coalport Porcelain Plate Stand Indian Tree Pattern c 1820 Antique
A very attractive and collectable twin handled small plate, platter or stand by Coalport porcelain from the John Rose period circa 1820. The plate has been transfer printed and hand coloured with the Indian Tree pattern. The twin handles have pierced holes and moulded acanthus and shell scroll decoration that has been highlighted with gilding. The iron red and gilded hand painted motif at two points on the black inner border is a signature John Rose feature. There are decorator's and gilder's marks on the inner edge of the foot rim.
The plate is 9 1/8 inches long and 6 5/8 inches wide and weighs 342 grammes unpacked and is in very good condition with some rubbing to the inner black rim, commensurate with age and use. It is a decorative antique porcelain plate for any collector of John Rose Coalport or Regency period English porcelain.
