Antique Marcolini Period Meissen Porcelain Reticulated Basket or Dish c 1800
An antique, quality decorative, hard paste Meissen porcelain reticulated basket or dish decorated with hand painted flowers, a rose and a radish! It is painted in poly-chrome enamels with the reticulation or piercing being picked out in pink on the interior and blue on the exterior, with a gilded rim.
There is a feint cobalt blue maker's mark of crossed swords with an asterisk or star beneath. This mark relates to the Marcolini period at Meissen 1774 to 1814.
The basket is in fair antique condition. There is a repaired or restored firing tear to one side where the piercing has split. There is also a crack from the tip of the right hand leaf on the radish to the rim. Please see the images.
