Antique Murrle Bennett 9ct Gold Peridot Brooch Arts and Crafts Archibald Knox
An exquisite arts and crafts / art nouveau rose gold brooch or pin by a renowned maker, Murrle Bennett & Co of London. Founded by Ernst Murrle and J.B. Bennett, the most fashionable jewellery was produced by this firm in the years between 1896 and 1914. Their work sold at Liberty & Co and they collaborated with great designers of the day including Archibald Knox and Theodor Fahrner.
The 1 inch long oval shaped brooch is stamped on the back 9 ct and MBc - the distinctive mark of Murrle Bennett. It is set with a beautiful peridot stone - a favourite of the period - and has a very stylish, organic design featuring upswept bars or lines with heart shaped leaves or terminals.
The pin fastens securely to a c-shaped clasp and the brooch is in excellent condition - ready to wear. This is a lovely item for any collector and a timeless, great-looking item of jewellery. It weighs 2 grammes unpacked.
