A very attractive, highly decorative and
collectable English parian or bisque porcelain wall bracket, hanging shelf
dating from around 1860.
The bracket has high relief moulded decoration featuring
scrolling acanthus leaves which scroll outwards to form the support for the
canted corner flat shelf. The back is hollow and has three holes for screws on
which to hang the shelf.
The wall bracket stands 8 1/2 inches high and has a platform
size of 7 1/2 inches wide by 6 1/4 inches deep. There are no maker's marks as
is often the case with items of this period. It was probably produced by one of
the Staffordshire factories of the day possibly Minton or Copeland, but
Worcester also made these wall hanging shelves..
The shelf is in excellent antique condition with no damage
nor restoration. It has thick walled porcelain and is heavy weighing 1948
This is a great item for any collector of antique porcelain
or as a decorators piece for a period or a contemporary home. Please see my
