Antique Pewter Measure French Demilitre Touchmarks Leclerc Humbert Lilles 19th C

Antique Leclerc Humbert Lilles French Pewter Demi-litre Measure Touchmarks 19th C

Here we have a lovely example of antique 19th century French pewter metalware. This fabricated lidded and handled  demilitre (1/2 litre) drinks measure was produced in the 19th century in France by Leclerc Humbert of Lilles. There is a partial touch mark on the base but we have been to identify it.

There are over 60 weights and measures validation stamps to this demi-litre measure around the rim underneath the lid and on the handle It has seen considerable service. There is an impressive seven part hinge for the lid. The top is stamped 7 with HC and a crown mark. The base has two large stamped crown marks and the handle also has a small crown stamp like the lid.

The measure is 6 1/2 " high and 3 3/8 inches in diameter at the base. It weighs 798 g unpacked and is in good antique condition with great patination commensurate with age and use.

This is a great item that will interest any collector of antique pewter or drinks measures.
