Daniel Porcelain

Antique Lilac Sprigged Porcelain Dessert Dish H and R Daniel Cusped Shaped Shell Dish circa 1825 - George IV - Lavender Sprigged Grapevines 23.5 cm

An antique porcelain George IV period cusped shaped shell dessert dish with lilac or lavender coloured sprigging. This very decorative dish dates from circa 1825 and is made of white porcelain with lavender sprigging featuring grapevines, bunches of grapes and stylised floral motifs. It is a good quality item and has a wide gilded band at the rim.

It is unmarked as is usually the case with items dating from this period however, the maker is Henry Daniel of Stoke and Shelton, later traded as H& R Daniel in partnership with his son Richard. A similar shaped serving dish is shown on the Daniel Ceramic Circle website. A pair of similarly sprigged dishes were sold by Clevedon Salerooms in March 2015.

This beautiful and unusual shaped dessert dish is in very good condition with just a small amount of rubbing to the gilding and some very tiny frit marks in the body, dating from manufacture.

It is a very attractive and highly decorative antique item for display and will be of particular interest to collectors of H and R Daniel porcelain, Staffordshire or George IV ceramics. A great example of antique English lavender or lilac sprigged porcelain - ideal to add to any collection for display or great for use.
