Antique Pottery Biscuit Barrel EPNS Fittings Printed Ruins Scene c 1915 W Wood
An antique pottery biscuit barrel with a transfer printed landscape featuring the ruins of what look like a a castle and an abbey.
This very decorative item of antique tableware dates from c 1915 - 1932 - the W Wood & Co printed mark on the base dates from this period. The barrel has a salmon pink background onto which has been printed a pleasing landscape pattern in cobalt blue.
Above the printed scene is a moulded decorative border with dots and darts and there are beaded bands, highlighted with gilding. The barrel stands 17 cm high, not including the handle and it has a width of 17 cm. The barrel has EPNS fittings - the lift-off lid, rim and hinged handle. It weighs 959g and is in good, clean condition with some wear to the plate and a little rubbing to the gidling, The cream interior is clean and unstained.
A very nice item to add to any collection and a decorative display piece.
