Here we have a very decorative and rare plate by the renowned maker William Adams and Co and dating from around 1900.

This novelty plate is marked on the back Rare-Bit Plate and I have only been able to find one other on the internet. The 9 inches plate is transfer printed and hand coloured and features the following ditty around the rim:
" The Valiant Priest of Feltham - He Killed a Mouse within his house - And ne'er a soul to help him."
There is a central scene of the Priest stabbing the unfortunate mouse with his fork whilst another mouse runs away. The poor slain mouse is also shown at the top of the rim.
