Royal Dux Porcelain Green Elephant Model Gilded Highlights Antique c 1910 4 inch
Royal Dux elephant ornament dating from c 1910. Here we have a great looking elephant made of porcelain and although unmarked, is a known Royal Dux piece.
It has a dark green matt glaze which is distinctive for Royal Dux items of the art nouveau period, and there are soft gold gilded highlights to show the definition of this beautifully detailed animal.
Royal Dux is a renowned porcelain factory in the Czech Republic and their figurines are very collectable and highly prized. Royal Dux Porcelain has been made in the town of Duchcov, then Bohemia, now the Czech Republic (previously Czechoslovakia) located to the North West of Prague.
The elephant stands 4 inches high and is 5 1/2 inches long. It weighs 224g and is in very good condition. There are some very tiny areas around the edges of the feet and the bottom of the ears where the green glaze has not covered but I think this dates from manufacture rather than damage.
