A good quality, heavy gauge silver plate on copper gadrooned rimmed butler's tray dating from the Victorian period, circa 1870.
The acanthus leaf and ribbed twin handled butler's tray has four low feet underneath with a generously moulded applied gadrooned border rim of with acanthus leaves and shells on the corners. The low foot would keep the heat of a carried teapot or coffee pot from damaging any table that the tray was laid upon.
The tray is 26 inches long and 15 1/2 inches wide and weighs 2.96kg unpacked.
This is an very good quality antique tray with some wear to the plate and minor marks from use, as shown in the images. There are signs on the back that the tray has been re-plated in the past, however is an ideal candidate for re-plating again if so desired. It is a very decorative piece both for display and very suitable for use.
