A very good quality butler's tray which is silver plate on very heavy gauge copper with a gadrooned rimmed and ornate cast floral decorated handles. The tray dates from the Victorian period, circa 1870.
The acanthus leaf and floral decorated twin handled butler's tray has a generously moulded applied gadrooned border rim. There is a manufacturers Mark of a stamped M and a number 2 to the back of one of the handles.
The tray is 29 inches across the ends of the handles, 22 1/2 long and 17 inches wide and weighs 5 kg unpacked.
This is an excellent quality antique tray with some wear to the plate and minor marks from use, as shown in the images, it is an ideal candidate for re-plating if so desired. It is a very decorative piece both for display and very suitable for use.
