Antique Sitzendorf Porcelain Cherubs Strut Mirror 6 1/2 " High Wooden back Circa 1880
Here we have a superb antique Sitzendorf strut mirror made of porcelain and with a wooden back and stand.
This charming mirror, features two winged cherubs inviting you to look into the glass. It dates from around 1880 - 90 and has the underglaze blue painted mark of Sitzendorf on the back. The maker is Voigt Brothers of Sitzendorf, Thuringia, Germany.
The oval shaped mirror, with bevelled glass, is made of white porcelain that has been beautifully decorated with applied flowers at the lower edge and painted with delicate pastel shades and gilding. It is 6 1/2 inches high and 5 1/4 inches wide. The mirror can be stood up using the wooden stand or wall hung with the metal ring.
It weighs 340g unpacked and is in very good antique condition with just a couple of very minor chips to the edges of the flower petals. There is a small firing crack, dating from manufacture, to one of the cherub's arms.
This is a delightful item to enhance any interior and a stunning piece for any collector of antique continental porcelain or cherub themed pieces.
