Antique Snuff Box Carved Burr Walnut Snuff Mother of Pearl Inlay Box Hinge c 1820
A Georgian carved burr walnut snuff box with a beautiful deep patina and lovely figuring, circa 1820. It could be used as a patch, pill or snuff box. As the interior is lined with bovine horn we would think that this is a snuff box.
The decorative and very collectable antique box is a very attractive and tactile with a rounded rectangular shape and slightly domed hinged lipped lid with white mother of pearl inlay. The lid has an integral carved box hinge that has been damaged in the past and has been very neatly repaired.
The box is 3 1/8 inches long, 1 3/4 inch wide and 5/8 inches high, it weighs 33g unpacked and is in good antique with a small chip to the front left corner of the lid. As already mentioned the hinge has been skilfully repaired. This item is in a very useable condition and is highly collectable.
This is a very attractive example of an antique Georgian carved burr walnut snuff box and a very decorative item to enhance any collection.
