A Spode porcelain Tobacco Leaf pattern variant (pattern number 1559) plate, printed, hand coloured and gilded pattern in the Imari palette very typical of the Regency period.
This antique English porcelain plate was made by Spode of Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, England, they introduced this pattern circa 1811. This pattern, is a copy of a Chinese porcelain pattern, originally popular around 1760.
The plate has a border with a pattern of iron red and blue scrolling flowers and a gilded rim. It has a hand painted SPODE in iron red and the pattern number 1559 on the base.
The plate is 8 3/8 inches diameter and weighs 370g, it is in excellent condition. Free UK and international postage with this item.
