Creamware Tea Kettle Shaped Teapot Ribbed Gilded Bachelor Size Antique ca 1870

An antique bachelor or one-cup size creamware or cream-coloured earthenware, hand gilded pottery tea kettle shaped tea pot.

This small size teapot has a ribbed, globular shape and dates from circa 1870. It has no maker's marks just a painted decorator's number 638 on the base but it was most likely made by one of the many Staffordshire factories of the day.

The tea kettle has been opulently gilded to the lid, rim, top handle and spout. It stands 5 1/2 inches high and is 6 inches wide. It weighs 239 grammes and is in very good condition with just a tiny chip under the rim of the lid and some crazing mostly to the interior.

This is a lovely decorative item to add to any collection. Please see my other small size tea pot also listed for sale.
