A very pretty and wearable late 19th century Victorian gold locket back sweetheart brooch or pin in the Etruscan style.
The brooch is 1 1/2 inches long and has a bloomed finish to the gold, a popular feature of the 1880-90s period. There is a circular locket at the back of the brooch for a piece of hair from a sweethert to be safely stored. This brooch appears to have never had this section used and it has the original pale blue silk inside.
The brooch is marked on the back 9ct and the maker's monogram is T.H. It has a very attractive design with applied scrolls and leaves and a central oval plaque with a diamond chip and starburst engraving. The brooch fastens securely with a pin and c clasp. It weighs 3g and is in excellent condition, ready to wear.
