A very attractive and good quality Victorian cut amber glass claret jug with facet cut neck and shoulder design. The jug dates from around 1880 and is made of hand blown amber glass that has an applied clear glass handle with an unusual "bird's foot" lower terminal.
It has a faceted stopper, a star cut base and a plain loop handle. It stands approx 9 1/4 inches high including the stopper and is 5 1/2 inches wide and 4 1/4 deep, it weighst 647g unpacked.
The jug is in good order with some inclusions in the body and a mark below the handle where it has been caught on the cutting wheel. The stopper may possibly be a replacement. This is a very decorative and usable piece of Victorian glassware for the table.
