Victorian Brooch Gold Colour with Almandine Garnet Domed Shape Antique c 1860
A very pretty brooch in the Etruscan Revival style and made of a copper coloured metal with a yellow gold wash.
The dome shaped brooch has a wirework or filigree centre and is set with a square shaped almandine garnet. It is 1 1/8th inch in diameter and has a little hook at the back of the brooch, probably for a detachable decorative dropper, tassel or fringing. This could also be used to attach a safety chain.
The brooch fastens securely with a c-shaped clasp and it weighs 7 g. It is in good condition with just a little solder marking at the rim of the brooch near the c-shaped clasp. This is a lovely wearable brooch for any occasion.
