Victorian Opaque Milk Glass Vase Hand Painted Convolvulus Pansies Antique c 1860

A very attractive Victorian opaque, milk or milch glass vase with hand painted floral decoration. This great looking white opaque glass vase dates from around 1860, some collectors may call this Opaline glass. It has a rounded cylindrical body on a tapered foot and has a long trumpet neck with an inverted rim.

The vase is hand painted on both sides - purple convolvulus on one side and burgundy pansies on the other. In between are gilded scrolls and there is gilding to the neck and foot rim. Some of the gilding is rubbed due to age and use. The vase has a ground pontil to the base that has a diameter of 3 1/8 inches. It is in very good condition apart from the rubbing to the gilding.  This is a lovely example of Victorian glassware and a very decorative display item.
