Antique Victorian Panel Cut Glass Shaft & Globe Decanter Cut Hollow Stopper 1850
Antique Victorian Panel Cut Glass Shaft & Globe Decanter Cut Hollow Stopper 1850
Here we have a most attractive antique cut glass decanter with a beautifully heavily cut design. It is shaft and globe shaped and has an ornate hollow faceted stopper with an air tear.
The decanter dates from around 1850 - the Victorian period and is a very good, usable piece as well as highly decorative. It has two bands of thumb cuts around the globe shaped body and long panel cuts starting at the top of the globe and around the shaft of the neck, it has a star cut base.
It is in very good antique condition with a little blooming inside the air tear of the stopper - this must date from manufacture as this area is completely sealed off, and some tiny fleabites to the top of the stopper and to the edges of the cut facets. There is a little blooming to the inside of the lower part of the body.
It stands 14 3/8 inches high and has a body diameter of 5 1/2 inches. It is a heavy, good quality item and weighs 1210 g unpacked. This is a lovely piece - highly decorative as well as useful.
