Antique Victorian Peachblow & Coralene cased glass vase - Thomas Webb circa 1890
This stunning Victorian opaque white cased glass vase, by Thomas Webb of Stourbridge, with a Peach Bloom graduated pink and white overlay, some collectors may refer to this as Peachblow. On top of this peach bloom there is a Coralene finish, which is made with tiny yellow glass beads fired into a syrupy type glass enamel applied in a manner that simulates the look of coral. This is a process that was originally patented by Arthur Schierholz of Plauen Thuringia in the German Empire on July 7th 1883. (ref 1)
The footed globular vase with a short outwardly tapering cylindrical neck stands 11.4 cm high but 11 cm diameter, It weighs 361 grams unpacked. Crafted in Stourbridge, in the UK circa 1890, this original handmade piece is a true antique. Perfect for collectors of Victorian-era glassware or those who appreciate the beauty of handmade craftsmanship, this vase is sure to be a striking addition to any home decor.
The vase is in very good antique condition without cracks or restoration, there is a small chip to the foot. Some losses of the glass beads on the Coralene. Please see the images.
