Antique Victorian Yellow Metal Hair Picture Locket Hinged Glass Compartment - circa 1860 - bow type loop

An attractive antique early to mid Victorian yellow metal hair or picture locket with a hinged glass fronted compartment. 

The round shaped locket has an integral pocket watch bow type loop with a hinged ring at the top, One side is heavily embossed with a decorative design with scrolling foliage and a central vacant cartouche. The rim of the locket has a embossed design featuring flower heads and this can be seen on both sides of the locket. 

The other side of the locket has a hinged, glass fronted compartment which opens and closes securely. This would have been used to carry a lock of hair of a loved one or a picture of a sweetheart, for example. 

The diameter of the locket is approximately 3 cm or 1 1/8th inch and the overall drop is 1 5/8ths inch. Although it is not actual gold, it looks very much like it and is in very good condition, ready to wear. Great to add to a chain and can be worn facing either way.  Would make a lovely gift or a treat for yourself. Please note the antique jewellery box in the images show is NOT included in the sale.
