Antique Engraved Ormolu Easel Photo Picture Frame Woodward & Lothrop

A beautiful quality ormolu (gilt brass) easel type picture or photo frame retailed by Woodward and Lothrop of Washington and Paris, their name and locations are stamped on the back of the hinged leg. The frame has a decorative crest type top with laurel leaves, cornucopias and floriate scrolls. This frame takes a 7 inch (17.78 cm) x 5 inch (12.7 cm) picture and comes complete with glass. It has a hinged top at the back which allows the picture to be changed (see image 7). There is an an integral hanging loop fastened onto this hinged top to enable the frame to be hung on a wall.

It is in excellent condition ready to use, minor marks and wear commensurate with age and use. It weighs 519 grammes unpacked.

Woodward and Lothrop were a department store in Washington DC USA and opened a branch in Paris France in 1900. This frame is probably French and dates to the Belle Époque or Edwardian period circa 1910.
