Art Nouveau Pressed Copper Finger Plate Original Antique circa 1900
An art nouveau pressed copper finger plate in original condition with limited polishing. It could be polished to a high sheen if so desired by removing the original lacquer, but it has been left in their original condition for the purchaser to decide on how to present it. This is a genuine original antique finger plate dating from around 1900.
This is a very decorative and relatively rare item, generally rectangular in shape with a very Art Nouveau stylised tulip and leaf scroll to the top. The pattern is repeated at the base but with three stylised tulips. The centre has a raised oval cartouche with two stylised tulips to either side. The whole background has a hammered type finish.
This finger plate or door push is 11 7/16 ( (29 cm ) high by 3 inches (7.6 cm ) wide and the depth is about 5/16 inches 0.7 cm). It weighs 131 grammes unpacked. It is in excellent antique condition, it has some very minor marks commensurate with age and use. It is made of pressed solid copper with a protective lacquer on it and could be polished to a highly reflective sheen if so desired.
This is a great decorative and useful item of antique copper; an art nouveau door finger plate for a period home or to add to any metalware collection.
