Arts and Crafts Caged Brass Hall Lantern Antique C 1910
An Arts and Crafts caged brass and glass hall lantern. This very attractive and highly desirable hall or porch lantern has a brass sheet body which is of tapered square shape. It is decorated with wire cages over the glasses and elliptical shaped half-hemisphere air vent covers riveted to each side. The characterful lantern or lamp shade dates from around the Edwardian period circa 1910.
The lantern has an overall height of 10 3/4 inches from the base to the top of the suspension ring. The square shaped base is 4 3/4 inches wide. It weighs 0.769 kg unpacked.
It is in very good antique condition. Age related tarnish. Could be polished but looks good as it is. All original mottled or obscure glass panels are present and are in excellent undamaged condition. No electrical fittings and requires wiring. A standard electrical pendant light could easily be fitted. The suspension loop and associated cord grip fastener are replacements.
This is a great item to add to any collection of lighting or for use in a period property or Arts and Crafts themed setting.
