Absolutely fabulous ! A rosewood and brass round two handled inlaid serving tray and three footed tobacco jar in the Art nouveau, Jugendstil, or Seccessionist style made by the patent holder Erhard & Söhne.

This very attractive and beautiful quality tray has a tri-part stylised tree of life decoration and the tobacco jar has a scrolling leaf design and a turned brass handle to the lid. The interior has a handled lead type metal inner lid or press to hold the tobacco in place.

The company Erhard & sons was established, in 1844, by Carl Gottlieb Erhard and his two sons, Carl and Julius. They operated in Weißensteiner Straße, Schwäbisch Gmünd, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The company took out a patent in 1904 for inlaid brass. The designs here featured in their catalogue issued in 1905. The tobacco jar is their model number J100.
