A Persian Qajar Dynasty (1831-96) Islamic ceramic pottery vase of baluster form hand painted in polychrome underglaze enamels.
This antique 19th century hand thrown vase with rounded shoulder and a tapering base has underglaze seated figural decorations in olive green, cobalt blue, ochre and brown . There is a lady and two gentleman in a garden each wearing Persian costumes and holding a flask and drinking vessel. There are stylised plantain leaf borders around the foot and rim, unmarked; height 12 inches (30cm).
