Antique Wemyss Ware Cabbage Roses Bowl hand painted pottery Impressed mark Wemyss Ware circa 1910 - 4 inches high 5 3/4 inches diameter

A beautiful and highly collectable circa 1910 Wemyss Ware bowl with the very distinctive and attractive hand painted cabbages roses pattern.

This lovely bowl has the Wemyss Ware impressed mark on the base and it stands 10 cm ( approximately 4 inches) high and is 14.6 cm (approximately 6 inches) wide at the rim, base diameter 7 cm or 2 3/4 inches. It has been superbly hand painted with the big, blousy pink cabbage roses that are synonymous with Wemyss Ware, a great favourite of the late Queen Mother who was an avid collector.

Wemyss Ware was founded in 1882 as a collaboration between Fife Pottery, Kirkcaldy owner, Robert Heron and Czech designer, Karel Nikola. They took the name of Wemyss from the Wemyss family who were great patrons of their work.

This lovely example dates from circa 1910 and it is in very good condition with glaze crazing and slight discolouration inside the bowl, as is so commonly found with this type of pottery. It weighs 355 grammes unpacked.

The bowl would make a great addition to any collection and is a stunning display piece.
