Brown Westhead and Moore Rope Handled Porcelain Tea Cup & Saucer Antique c 1869
A high quality antique white porcelain pedestal based empire shaped tea cup with a rope twist handle and saucer produced by the renowned factory of Brown, Westhead and Moore of Cauldon Place, Hanley, Staffordshire. The firm eventually became Cauldon Ltd. Both items are printed in black with a diamond or kite design registration mark, for 25th September 1868 dating the pair to around 1869.
The cup has a beautiful gilded rope twist handle and there are gilded scallops around the border rim of the saucer and the rim of the cup. There is a plain gilded band at the footrim of the cup. The base is marked with the hand painted pattern number C5976. The body is very white and this is high-quality bone china. There are no makers marks other than the registration diamonds which help identify the manufacturer.

The cup stands 2 5/8ths inches high and has a diameter at the rim of 3 1/2 inches. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/2 inches. They weigh a total of 243g .
Condition: Excellent antique condition. Some minor wear to the gilding on the to the handle.No chips cracks nor restoration.
This is a very elegant cup and saucer and a great item to add to any collection of antique English porcelain.
