Chamberlains Worcester porcelain dinner plate floral pattern transfer printed & hand coloured 10 1/2 inch diameter - antique Victorian circa 1850
A Chamberlain's Worcester porcelain dinner plate decorated with an under glaze transfer printed and polychrome enamel hand coloured floral pattern with butterflies. The back has an impressed mark - Chamberlain's Worcester used between 1847 -1852. See Godden's Encyclopedia of pottery and Porcelain marks page 139 mark 849.
This very attractive scalloped rimmed plate has been hand gilded to accentuate the design on the border of flowers and foliage.
It measures 10 1/2 inches (26.9 cm) in diameter and weighs 685 g. It is in good condition with a little glaze rubbing at the rim wear to the gilding from handling and a couple of minor chips to the underside of the rim. There is very minor body crazing and some small frit marks, dating from manufacture.
This is a great piece to add to any collection of antique porcelain plates or Chamberlain's Worcester pieces.
