Chinese Canton Celadon Plate Painted enamel Auspicious items scrolls, peaches, flowers & Butterflies Stylised blue seal mark Guangxu antique c 1880
An 19th century Chinese Canton porcelain celadon green plate that has been hand painted in bright enamel colours with a central Buddhist emblem of three parchment scrolls surrounded with flowers, leaves and butterflies peaches and other auspicious items.
The back of the plate or dish is marked in under glaze blue with a highly stylised and poorly painted reign seal mark that we think is for Guangxu 光緒帝 (1871 - 1908). This plate is often referred to as Canton porcelain, the port of export from China, and it dates from the late 19th century around 1880.
It is in good antique condition with wear to the gilding , there is a hairline in the glaze to the top to the rim.
This is a lovely item to add to any collection of Chinese celadon ware or porcelain, with an auspicious symbolic Chinese pattern.
