Antique glass celery vase with baluster shaped stem, folded rim and a cut bell shaped bowl. This vase dates from around 1870, the mid Victorian period and is made of thin hand blown glass which rings when flicked with a finger. The vase has been wheel cut on the bowl with a vertical line of small thumb cuts with two panel cuts either side and large star cut and diamond pattern which is repeated equally four times around the bowl. The unusual folded rim has been decorated with a band of tiny thumb cuts. There is a band of similar longer cuts to the edge of the foot.
This is a very attractive and quality vase is in excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks nor restoration, there is a burst bubble inclusion at the edge of the foot and some tooling marks, striations and bubble inclusions within the metal.Â
This is a very decorative piece of Victorian glassware for the table or sideboard.Â
