Green Glass Biscuit Barrel Stand Enamelled Gilded Jewelled Antique Victorian

A green glass biscuit barrel complete with a domed lid and stand, dating from the late Victorian period around 1880, probably made in Stourbridge in the West Midlands of England.  They have all been beautifully enamelled and gilded with small white flowers, dots and gilded clover or shamrock decoration with anthemion or palmette decoration, additionally there are five applied small red glass jewelled decorations.

This beautiful antique and highly useful coloured glass lidded jar with a large ball knop or handle and under plate could be used for sweets, biscuits, cookies or purely decorative. Some collectors may refer to this as a cookie jar.

The jar and lid are in excellent condition with some very minor wear to the enamel and gilding in places commensurate with age and use but, no chips, cracks nor restoration. The base or stand has a small number of tiny nibbles or nicks to the edge of the rim but otherwise no cracks nor marks. There are some tooling marks and minor inclusions within the metal.  Please see the images
