F and R Pratt Terracotta Twin Handled Lidded Sucrier Griffin Pattern c 1860
F and R Pratt terracotta twin handled sucrier decorated with a hand coloured polychrome enamel transfer printed pattern of a classical griffin or gryphon with a Greek key border. This is an unusual example of a mid 19th century terracotta sugar box or sucrier that dates from around 1860. It has a short baluster shape with two short curved handles with gilded decoration. This pattern is attributed to Felix and Richard Pratt, Fenton Potteries, High Street East, Fenton, Stoke on Trent Staffordshire, England.
This lovely sucrier stands 5 1/2 inches(14 cm) high. The body diameter is 4 inches ( 10.1 cm) and it weighs 458g unpacked.
It is in good antique condition with a repaired chip to the rim. Suitable for display.This is a nice piece to add to any collection of terracotta or small Victorian period sucrier.
