Fischer and Mieg Pirkenhammer Porcelain Handled Dish Parrot Swan Antique c 1870

A Fischer & Mieg porcelain twin compartment central handled serving dish with a very decorative and stunning hand coloured transfer printed design consisting of a bright coloured parrot and blossom on one compartment and a swan with water lilies and reeds on the other. The handle and the rim are picked out in bright blue enamels.

This most attractive two compartment handled dish is marked on the back with the impressed F & M mark used by Fischer and Mieg from 1853 - 1873. We would date this piece to the latter part of this period as it has an aesthetic movement and a japonesque style to the printed and hand coloured design.

This highly collectable Bohemian porcelain was made by the renowned Fischer & Mieg factory of Pirkenhammer, in the Carlsbad region of Bohemia. Now known as Brezova, in the Karlovy Vary region in the Czech Republic.

The dish is 11 1/8 inches (283 mm) by 9 inches (228 mm) and weighs 773 g. It is in excellent condition - a beautiful piece to add to any collection of 19th century porcelain, Bohemian ceramics or simply for use as serve ware.
