French Pearlware Dessert Plate Hand Coloured Floral Sprays Antique 19th C
A French pearlware pottery (faience) scalloped rim dessert plate with a hand coloured transfer printed pattern featuring a floral spray with a flower garland border, dating from early to mid 19th century.
The pattern is printed in black and then hand coloured with bright enamels including pink, purple, orange, yellow and green. The base has a small foot rim, where the glaze has pooled with a distinctive blue colour,
The plate is unmarked, as is often the case with items dating from this period and measures 8 1/4 inches in diameter. It weighs 277 g. The plate is in very good antique condition with very minor body crazing and a couple of glaze fleabites to the underside of the rim. There are spur marks to the front and rear of the plate from manufacture.
This very attractive antique pearlware plate with a transfer printed pattern is decorative for display and perfect to add to any collection of pearlware, pottery, botanicals or faiencerie.
